IB Spanish Ab Initio SL I (and Accelerated) / Course 266

and IB Spanish Ab Initio SL II / Course 267

This AB Initio program is for students who have no previous experience of the target language. As in the past, the program is open to Juniors (SL) and Seniors (SL II) but is now open to Freshmen who want to complete the Accelerated IB Language B program at standard level

It has been especially developed for those who have had little or no opportunity for foreign language study and are therefore unable to fulfill the IB Diploma language requirements. The course stresses communication and is taught mostly in Spanish.

Topics prescribed by the IB Board include: education and work, town and services, food and drink, leisure and travel, the environment, health and emergencies.

For seniors, the IB assessment takes place only during the second year of the course. While the reading and writing component is assessed externally, the listening and oral skills are marked internally and represent 30% of the final exam. Students will be expected to compile a dossier of all their work as a source for oral exams.

Texts: (Year I) Dime1, (Year II) Dime 2, Vocabulario Activo del Español.

IB Spanish B SL I / Course 268

The study of grammar and structure is integrated in the course work. Students will be expected to compile a dossier of their work as a source for their oral exams.
