Lower Elementary

The Lower Elementary school includes the EC 3 and 4 levels up to grade 2.

Within the elementary school, we take a developmental approach to teaching and learning. Just as all children do not learn to walk or talk at the same time, all children do not grasp the same skills and concepts at the same time. By looking at each child as an individual, and through careful and on-going assessment of skill development, we are able to provide an instructional program based on each students’ developmental level and needs.

We accomplish this by focusing on the following guiding principles:

• inspiring ongoing curiosity and a love of learning.
• implementing challenging and relevant curriculum at developmentally appropriate levels.
• explicitly teaching the skills and tools to learn and go on learning.
• establishing and sustaining a collaborative and caring school community.
