Upper Elementary

ISB's Upper Elementary School is comprised of grade levels 3 to 5.

Where inquiring minds are encouraged to find challenge and adventure.

We believe that children learn better and retain more when they are actively involved in what they are doing. At ISB, everything that is happening in a child's experience is connected together by a common thread or theme, making it easier for students to relate to the concepts being taught, maintain their concentration and grasp understanding. For example, if they read about the rainforest, categorize rainforest animals, sing about the rainforest and draw a picture in art then they find it easier to get a more complete picture and understanding.

Images of ISB's Upper ElementaryISB also recognizes that a gentle transition from home to school will help the child to interact with people outside the family and learn to socialize within the group. Play occupies a central part in all areas of growth and development of the whole child.

Through play, the child's social, emotional, physical, cognitive and language development will be engaged, exercised and supported. Children are presented with a non-threatening environment where they are encouraged to take risks as they interact in a multitude of settings and situations. The program is designed to be flexible, with a balance between active and quiet activities along with indoor and outdoor play.
